Race Recap--5/5/08

Indy Series Main Event- In the main event, the TRAXX 75, CAPT. FALCON took an early lead while MILD BILL, G MAN, RIDDLER, and STRYKER battled it out. The battle lasted throughout the first half of the race until CAPT. FALCON started hitting lap traffic which shortened his lead. This allowed MILD BILL to catch up who was still followed closely by G MAN and RIDDLER. STRYKER was able to recover after an early race penalty to end up right behind RIDDLER at the end of the event. The open track did allow STRYKER to take fastest lap honors, even though he placed 5th in the race. CAPT. FALCON held onto his lead and took 1st place honors with the 2nd fastest laptime. MILD BILL came in 2nd, G MAN in 3rd, and RIDDLER in 4th (also taking the 3rd fastest laptime).

Due to an error in number-crunching the results too quickly, please note the change in the final results below which differs from the awards ceremony results--STRYKER acutally took 2nd place overall with points added for the fastest laptime and MILD BILL moved to 4th place overall.

Formula One Main Event- With 100 laps to complete, skill -and- stamina took effect for the TRAXX 100 main event. SPEEDY GONZALOUS took a commanding lead off the line with MARK jumping into a comfortable 2nd place spot. ROWDY REBEL and TRE battled for 60+ laps for 3rd and 4th places while the rest of the drivers battled for the other positions. With approx. 10 laps to go, ROWDY REBEL had a kart malfunction which warranted a red flag "All Stop" to change his kart and put him back in his prior position. With a cold kart, he lost his 3rd place postition to TRE but was still able to come in 4th place. After the long race, SPEEDY GONZALOUS ended with a "Perfect Night" coming in 1st place with a fastest laptime (and new track record--22.04). MARK had his best night overall with 2nd place honors and the 2nd fastest laptime (22.09). TRE came in 3rd place and took the 3rd fastest laptime.
